"The tragic reality is that very few sustainable systems are designed or applied by those who hold power, and the reason for this is obvious and simple: to let people arrange their own food, energy and shelter is to lose economic and political control over them. We should cease to look to power structures, hierarchical systems, or governments to help us, and devise ways to help ourselves." - Bill Mollison

I wish I had the energy that you and Mrs. H. have, my grandkids would love it! I'm not sure that dachshunds would make very good sled dogs, or how it would work on desert sand ;-)

Merry Christmas Mr. H, Mrs. H., Boy and Rowdy!

The Barracuda thought that was the coolest idea ever! Dad's days of pulling the sled are numbered. I have a feeling a dog sled is in our future :)

I will go to sleep tonight pretending I'm that lucky little boy being pulled in the snow by that faithful dog, and then when I'm finished pretending, I'll fall asleep crying that I can't make it true! What a beautiful memories he will have.. Merry Christmas and blessings to you all. Ginny

Rowdy is a right regular Klondike dog! Nothing more real than a boy and his dog living life in the moment. :D

Merry Christmas to you and all of your family. May the new year bring real wealth to you - good friends, good food, and lots and lots of laughter.

Ohiofarmgirl - Oops, I didn't think of that. Anyway, you have quite the gang there and I'm sure they will all do their jobs very well. My parents have never had anything but German Shepards so I grew up with them and thought your two might be something like that, but I have never seen white ones before...great dogs. Mum is the word.

Ohiofarmgirl said...

yep mum's the word. its kinda a weird thing.. isnt it? but they are great and i wouldnt trade them for the world. you were very luck to have them growing up.

aww, a boy and his dog. This is so incredibly precious. I love the last photo - especially after watching them in action in the video.

What a good sport your dog is.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas too!

MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Blessed New Year!!
Looks like a riot in the snow but oh so cold. Reminds me of the days I froze in Michigan growing up and when I had to brave the winters in The Windy City while the hubby was finishing Optometry school there on the southside of Chicago. BURRRR!!!! I don't miss it. Stay warm.
Peace & Raw Health,
Elizabeth
